Sounds Nasty - But Isn't
Viral marketing has no relation to computer viruses so lets get that out of the way first. What it does do is attract visitors to your web site because of something someone else has said or done.
There are a few ingredients to a successful viral marketing campaign and they could include the following:
- Give something away - Like our online site check
- Make sure its portable - We could have provided a "tell a friend" service - that would work.
- Exploit human behaviour - everyone likes something for nothing
Something even simpler can be applied to your email and stationary or other advertising:
Make sure your web address is on everything - and I mean everything. If possible get it on other people's stationary and web sites - do whatever it takes but get your name out there.
These methods of marketing, and I've just touched the tip of the iceberg here, are extremely effective and with the internet its easy to spread the word.
