We should mention that we don't believe you can learn everything from a book. The ability to create a good web site must be based on knowledge and experience of what works and what doesn't. However, if you want to design your own web site we think you should have some background information to refer to, therefore we have compiled a list of books we believe give a good grounding to the novice. It may also help many professionals to read the books - they will probably learn something - we certainly did.

Of course after seeing the list you may think its a good idea to leave it to the professionals - we'd have to agree!
